Embark Dog Harness Review
Review of the Embark Harnesses for Dogs
We have recently been sent some new products from the company Embark, for our 4-legged friends to try out. They are a relatively young company, based in the US and UK. An Embark dog harness has featured in our “10 best dog harnesses” review for a while now, but it was nice to be sent the illuminate harness, a collar and a leash too and be able to road test them all. We are really satisfied with all the products we were sent, so read on to find out more!
Embark No Pull Adventure Dog Harness
First impressions were good. We’ve seen the adventure harness before but now we’ve got our hands on it and it looks and feels like a quality product. With thick padding, neatly stitched and an attractive teal colour, we were already confident it would suit our strong and active 4-legged reviewer.

What do we say about the Adventure Harness?
Our canine reviewer of the Embark harnesses was Shadow, a Staffordshire bull terrier.
Shadow’s mum used to walk her in a leather collar and found her uncontrollable at times. She wasn’t confident to walk her far on her own or out with her grandson in the pram. Shadow hadn’t been walked in a harness before but it has really been a game changer for her. The harness gives much greater control and therefore reassurance for her owner. They have walked further out on their own than before. Another plus point mentioned was the ability to keep the harness clean easily.
All in all, Shadow was happy wearing her harness and has converted her mummy away from her usual choice of a collar. Shadow had the teal harness and it looked great teamed up with the Embark Illuminate reflective dog leash which was a good length at 1.5m to keep firm control of Shadow, nice thick (2.5cm wide) and sturdy material with an easy to release clip.
Value for money?
The Embark no pull adventure harness retails in the UK at £24.99 with free delivery. Compare that to a best known brand like Julius-K9, the price is similar, with the K9 usually retailing from around £30 on amazon (depending on size/offers etc), or the Ruffwear all day adventure harness which retails at £44 for a medium size, we’d say the Embark stacks up very well against these and wouldn’t hesitate to have another one in the future.
Embark Illuminate Reflective Dog Harness
We’ve seen a lot of harnesses, but until we had been sent this one by Embark, we hadn’t seen a truly 360 degree visibility harness.
Made from high quality durable materials it is lightweight, and Embark say that their Illuminate harness is the most reflective on the market. We don’t disagree! We have searched for reflective harnesses online but haven’t found any which look quite the same. Some contain LED’s and many have reflective strips, but none which were all over reflective mesh type construction.
What do Embark say?
“Our Illuminate Reflective Dog Harness is 360° reflective and drastically increases your dog’s visibility at night, allowing your dog to be seen from over 300 feet away. This harness is perfect for night walks and other low light situations.
Illuminate was built totally with high visibility as the first priority.
Our reflective dog harness easily goes over the head and buckles around the belly. It features highly reflective materials all around, a solid D ring for the leash attachment, and a easy snap on off buckle.
Adjustable size for comfortable fit – with 4 adjustment points you can customize each harness to provide your dog with a comfortably snug fit.” (A size guide is available and there are three sizes to choose from)
Embark Illuminate Reflective Dog Harness – (Medium, Blue)
What do we say?
We can see the advantage of this product for those who walk their dog in perhaps more rural areas where street lighting is poor and cars often race down lanes (something we used to encounter!). Having as much reflection as possible in the shape of the harness will mean that the dog is more easily identifiable and hopefully therefore, safer as a result.
You can team the harness up with the illuminate leash to maximise on the reflective benefits of the materials, and the matching collar is an attractive addition to the product range, too.
The illuminate harness was a slightly more simple design than the adventure harness which shows how each harness has been constructed for different purposes. This harness is for all over visibility whereas the adventure harness is designed for longer jaunts and maximum comfort.
Value for money?
At 19.99 in the UK with delivery, we think this price is on point. For what is a pretty unique product, of high quality materials we really do recommend it to anyone looking for high-vis solutions for their 4 legged friend.
